SOUTHPORT-OAK ISLAND AREA, N.C.– Families looking for a unique July 4th destination need look no further than Southport, NC. The town’s annual Independence Day celebration is the official celebration of the state of North Carolina, and this year’s festivities promise to be better than ever.

The race begins at 8 a.m., and participants are guaranteed a Freedom Run t-shirt if they enter by June 14th. This year’s fee is $35 for the 5K. There is no charge for the 1-mile run/walk. For over thirty years, the N.C. 4th of July Festival Freedom Run has been racing through the streets of Southport, NC. The 5k and 1-mile fun run begins and ends at the Waterfront Park in Southport, N.C.
