What is the North Carolina 4th of July Festival in Southport & Oak Island?

It’s one of the oldest patriotic festivals in the country, celebrating Independence Day along the coast with a full week of events: parades, fireworks, concerts, markets, contests, and family-friendly fun.

Do I need a ticket for festival events?

Nope! All festival events are free and open to the public — no tickets required.

Do I need to pay for parking?

Parking is free, but very limited near the main venues. Southport offers a free trolley from Southport Elementary (701 W 9th St) from 10:00 AM–11:00 PM, July 2–4.

Are dogs allowed at the festival?

Leashed pets are allowed, but not recommended. July temperatures can be extreme, and hot asphalt may harm your pet’s paws. Please use caution.

I’m visiting from out of town. Where can I stay during the festival?

There are plenty of hotels, inns, and vacation rentals in Southport, Oak Island, and nearby beach communities. Book early — July 4th is a popular week!

How do I volunteer?

We’d love your help! Volunteers are essential to the festival’s success. Sign up here.
