The America 250 Weekend\, presented by the Old Baldy Foundation and the North Carolina Fourth of July Festival\, features two days of special events honoring our nation’s history through living history demonstrations\, historic sites\, music\, food\, and family-friendly activities. \nFort George Block Party | Sunday\, September 6\, 2026\nThe weekend’s signature event is the Fort George Block Party\, a unique celebration set on the historic grounds of Fort George. Guests will enjoy exclusive access to the gated event\, tours of Old Baldy Lighthouse and Museum\, a Southern barbecue picnic prepared by Southern Smoke\, live music from DJ Fray\, local craft beer and spirits\, raffles\, and a live reenactment of the Battle of Fort George. Getting to Bald Head Island is easy whether you’re coming from Southport\, Wilmington\, Raleigh\, or anywhere else on the mainland. We’ve chartered a ferry to carry you across the Cape Fear River\, the same passage British troops would have taken 250 years ago. \nTickets are $80 for adults with the ferry from Deep Point\, ​​​$70 for adults on island\, $35 for youth with the ferry\, and $25 for youth on island (12 & under). Meet in the terminal building lobby on the second floor to secure access to the private charter.\nAlternate Dock – The private charter will depart from an alternate dock. The exact dock location will be provided when you register in the second-floor lobby with an event volunteer.\nEvent Departure – The charter will head back to the mainland at 6:00 PM. Arrive by 5:45 PM to board the departure ferry.
