Join historian Musette Steck of the Southport Historical Society for a captivating guided tour of the Old Smithville Burying Grounds. Discover how this historic cemetery tells the story of Southport’s founding and America’s past. Burials here reflect not only the town’s early settlers but also veterans from nearly every American war, along with sea captains from around the world.
The cemetery, located at 401 E. Moore Street (corner of E. Moore St. and N. Rhett St.), is part of the original 100 plots laid out when Smithville—now Southport—was established in 1792.
