About the Oak Island Loggerheads
Shell yeah! The Loggerheads are making waves in summer collegiate baseball as members of the Coastal Division of the Old North State League. Debuting in 2025, this high-energy team brings big excitement (and even bigger shells!) to Oak Island.
Their name was selected by the community in a “Name the Team” contest, inspired by the mighty loggerhead sea turtle — a symbol of strength, resilience, and our beautiful coastal home. Just like their namesake, the Loggerheads are all about strong team spirit, fierce competition, and a deep love for their community.
Their home field, Bill Smith Park, provides the perfect setting for top-tier summer baseball filled with fun promotions, sunshine, and family-friendly entertainment. The Loggerheads are more than a team — they’re a celebration of Oak Island’s passion for sports, nature, and community.
